A UK TEENAGER is up on charges over alleged hacking attacks on the social network Facebook.
According to reports Glenn Steven Mangham, 25, from York is facing five charges alleging that he carried out some pretty sophisticated assaults on the web site and its software.
The Telegraph reports that Mangham, who it was claimed also offered to supply his program for hacking into the web site, was in front of the beak in Westminster yesterday and had rather a hard time of it.
Mangham is currently on bail, and like all accused hackers has been prohibited from accessing anything even resembling a computer. "The court feels it will be safer if there was no access to the internet which will reduce the temptation for your son to go on to Facebook," said Judge Evans.
Prosecutor Matthew McCabe showed his technical expertise with an early statement. "This is what can be described as a hacking case," he said. "This involved considerable technical expertise to penetrate the security programmes of Facebook."
The attacks, which targeted a part of Facebook where developers can flex their muscles, were mounted this Spring but, according to the social network none of its users' details were compromised.
Well, no more compromised than they are by being on Facebook in the first place. µ
That's some shoddy journalism, right there!
That's exactly what I was thinking! Woohoo apparently I am still a teenager
A 25-Year-Old Teenager!? Wow.
