THE SOCIAL NETWORK Facebook has taken a swipe at Google+, saying that it has no users.
According to the Telegraph, Google's nearly two-month old social network has been criticised by a senior Facebook executive for its lack of originality, as well as for its lack of users and appeal to software developers.
Sean Ryan, Facebook's director of game partnerships said, "Google has emulated aspects of our system, which is what they have the right to do. We just need to be better."
Ryan also compared Facebook and Google+ revenue sharing models for games developers, where Facebook takes 30 per cent and Google+ only 5 per cent.
"Google is at 5 per cent because they don't have any users," said Ryan. He said Google's tactics were like McDonalds copying Starbucks by selling coffee. This smacks of envy to us, as Google+ currently has around 25 million users, while in 2004, it took Facebook ten months to reach one million users.
It might be Google's decision last week to add games to its social networking service that has riled Facebook's games executive. Games are of course already a big part of the social networking landscape and titles on Facebook such as Farmville are popular, but Angry Birds has given Google some real leverage in the time-wasting gaming arena.
Facebook has also given its games features a bit of a tweak and has added a feed, or a ticker, that tells you where your friends are playing and what they are playing at. µ

Very much agree with SV Guy. I signed up, found some friends, then nothing. I deleted my account within a few days, this is simply Google trying to piggy back off of the success of Facebook.
Although Google has gained "users" quickly, that is a result of Facebook essentially creating the social media landscape. So, they can thank FB for that.
Denial is what Facebook is on. Denial Stage. Give it a couple of months. all you Facebook/Farmville/Cityville/Mafiawars fans can keep ur Facebook just like you did on Metroflog/Fotolog/Hi5 etc... when Facebook came up.
We were all very excited to get our Google+ invitations, then we got on and there was nothing to see or do.
To be honest, I've played Angry Birds on Google+ and just completed all the levels with 3 stars on each one. However, they have a couple of problems they need to iron out.
The first problem is the lag. Every few seconds there is a slight pause during the game...
The second problem is... and it's very annoying... there is a popup window that keeps showing up every few minutes... it's so annoying...I set up my popup blocker to prevent google games from showing popup windows... since I completed the game, not sure if it will still be a problem for me or not.
Facebook don't care of spending some lousy buck's in the app market? Who cares?
They might have 25 million people signed up but it is true, there are no actual 'users'.
Also you'll find the social networking lanscape in 2004 very different to today- remember friendster? Didn't think so...
