Google Android press release generator parodies the hype

Hello Moto deal gets the web treatment

SOME CLEVER WAG has created a press statement generating tool that could be used by Google's mobile partners to welcome its deal to buy Motorola Mobility.

"Dear 'partner' when talking about Google's Motorola acquisition you must use the following template or your license will be terminated," reads the introduction to the generator before offering a range of options with which to colour any congratulatory statements.

Users are asked to select a statement based on this general theme, "We welcome Google's commitment to defending Android and its partners", with the option to swap out the we, welcome, commitment and defending Android parts for alternatives.

You can choose any flavour of comment you like, positive or negative, and since this is just for yucks, we chose what looked to be the least favourable. "I admit Google's commitment to fighting Android and its partners," was our comment, and so far we have not have any visitors from the firm or its lawyers. But then again, we did that only a few minutes ago.

This is of course a joke web site and Google is as unlikely to include The INQUIRER's thoughts on its press releases as it ever was, but it does show how similar press release comments are, and fittingly a number are repeated on the web site.

These include, "We welcome today's news, which demonstrates Google's deep commitment to defending Android, its partners, and the ecosystem," from Samsung president JK Shin, and, "I welcome Google's commitment to defending Android and its partners. Today's news is a significant step forward for Android," from Bert Nordberg, president and CEO of Sony Ericsson.

We prefer the alternatives. Propeller hats off to the web site's creator. Even if he probably does work for Apple. µ
