Anonymous publicly denounces Operation Facebook
THE PROPOSED Anonymous splinter group action against Facebook does not have the support of the group as a whole, according to its most recent announcements.
Yesterday we reported on the recent coverage of a Youtube call for action against the social network Facebook, coverage that the group said was based on a hoax.
It became clear that the plans were real but are not supported by the group as a whole. This lack of support has been confirmed again following a meeting of the Anonymous elders.
"We absolutely disown #OpFacebook ... We're supposed to fight for the users, not against them. Don't violate private citizen privacy please," reads one tweet from Anonyops. Another said, "The old hats of Anonymous have decided to take stronger hold of the reins. We're taking Anon back. Time for sensible, focused discussion."
This does not mean that the activity will not go ahead on the 5th November, which is when it is set to take place.
"#OpFacebook is being organised by some Anons. This does not necessarily mean that all of #Anonymous agrees with it," added the separate Anonops account.
According to Anonymous, well at least the largest part of it, Facebook is only the messenger and unlike other targets so far is not ripe for attack. This does not mean that Anonymous likes it, however, and in a later tweet it added, "Don't like facebook? Organize a 'delete your account' data. Affect FB's bottom line, It's the only language they'll understand." µ

Stop acting as if anonymous was some organized group. At best it is a hive mind, there is no control and anyone that claims to have any control over anon is lying. There are no reigns to take hold of since anon operates according to the will of the anons.

To be honest I have to say I'm slightly dissappointed although this aim sounded overambitious anyway. Cause some losses for Facebook maybe. But ... "destroy"? Have they chickened out I wonder?
Facebook is as nasty as they said it was and the vast majority of users have not a clue what power they are blithely giving away by allowing Facebook to document their entire lives and those of their friends. Facebook effectively has a monopoly on tracking the lives of the better part of one billion people, realizing an Orwellian fantasy that government bureaucrats have masturbated to for more than a hundred years. There really is a need for some kind of awareness raising here. I'm not sure that hactivism is the right approach.
Who knows they could be saying this as a news stunt,they could turn faces to this operation,but with denouncing and them getting us to think that they arent going to hack into facebooks mainframe means facebook will disable their ip adress defences and fire walls so people can log on as use their accounts, but i give you this warning,they will hack soon or later and you wont know when or how it will happen.youre information isnt safe!!!!
What a joke. Were you guys fighting for or against us when you hacked 70-odd redneck sheriffs departments across the US and released confidential informant data, as well as using people's credit cards for "unwilling donations"? You guys are a joke, and one that's becoming less amusing with each re-telling.
