Adobe patches Flash Player for PCs and Android

Critical vulnerabilities are fixed across multiple operating systems
Wed Aug 10 2011, 09:47

SOFTWARE DEVELOPER Adobe has issued fixes for its Flash Player video software that patch problems on a full house of operating systems.

The firm issued the release today for Adobe Flash Player 10.3.181.36 and earlier versions for the Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Solaris operating systems along with a patch for Flash Player 10.3.185.25, and earlier, for the Android mobile operating system.

According to the company the fixed vulnerabilities could have caused system crashes or allowed a third party to take control of a user machine - the usual issues as far as these things go then.

Adobe advises users to update to more recent versions, but so far it has found no attacks or exploits in the wild.

Down to specifics, Adobe recommends users of Flash Player 10.3.181.36 and below on Windows, Macintosh, Linux or Solaris update to Adobe Flash Player 10.3.183.5. Android Flash Player 10.3.185.25 and earlier users should visit the Android application store and update to Adobe Flash Player for Android 10.3.186.3.

Adobe Air 2.7, on Windows and Mac users should update to 2.7.1 and users of AIR 2.7 for Android should update to Adobe Air 2.7.1.1961, the firm added.

This is Microsoft patch week as well, and earlier Microsoft issued its fixes for its software packages and operating systems. µ

Persistent patch work

You may want to report about the Sundays when Adobe does *not* release another patch. Better to work on a Sunday than 6 days per week.
