A GROUP OF HACKERS called Team Poison has hacked into a Blackberry web site and posted a warning against working with the police in tracking down looters and rioters.
The group, which hacked Lulzsec in early July, defaced the web site with a warning to the firm and its workers, explaining that it would not let any police assistance go unpunished.
Earlier today, Patrick Spence, managing director of global sales and regional marketing at RIM told The INQUIRER, "We feel for those impacted by this weekend's riots in London. We have engaged with the authorities to assist in any way we can". Since then the firm has seen one of its web sites defaced and a warning has been issued to it.
"Dear Rim; You Will _NOT_ assist the UK Police because if u do innocent members of the public who were at the wrong place at the wrong time and owned a blackberry will get charged for no reason at all", it read before the blogs.blackberry.com page on which it was published became unavailable.
Team Poison claims to have access to a lot of personal information about RIM employees, which it said it would use to its advantage was its request not met.
"If you do assist the police by giving them chat logs, gps locations, customer information & access to peoples BlackBerryMessengers you will regret it, we have access to your database which includes your employees information; e.g - Addresses, Names, Phone Numbers etc. - now if u assist the police, we _WILL_ make this information public and pass it onto rioters..." it warned.
"if you make the wrong choice your database will be made public, save yourself the embarrassment and make the right choice. don't be a puppet.."
Rumours have persisted that RIM will be forced to close down its messaging services in the UK to stop the spread of rioting information. To date RIM has denied this. µ
Ah, I see. So because a few people high up in RIM assist the police, the details of employees not involved in that release at all, i.e. most of the employees, are going to have their details released. Right, got it...
No, wait, that is of course nonsense. Why don't Team Poison go and learn how stuff works before they start their bogey man bullshit?
Whoever indulges in criminal activity or helps others to do it is a scum and needs to be brought to justice. Hope these people get caught and jailed.
Team Poison don't have that information. They said they had done the same to another website and it was then pointed out that they just attacked through wordpress. After looking at blackberry blog, I saw that it was also done on wordpress. RIM have nothing to worry about. Patheitc bastards...
How come I start to think that a police state will actually be a good thing instead of bad, which I always stood after.
This so called "free smartphone" generation who believe they can do anything they want, is the main reason why a police state would not be such a bad thing afterall. It might very well be that mass spying machines like Facebook and others where mainly invented to have a clearer database on society individual, but now they come to realize that it will backfire much harder than they ever thought.
Team Poison is Scotland Yard phonies making legit hackerz look bad by being complete a-holes.
Riot it wasnt .. was organised looting ... .massive difference you commies
Hug the hoodie? Kick him in the groin I say
If you have a subscription and/or bought a product from a company then you can expect to not be stabbed in the eye by that company.
RiM obviously has to comply with court orders but there is no need to become a secondary law enforcement force or to rat out their customers and betray their privacy.
Private business is NOT an extension of the government or law enforcement, private business is private business and should do their utmost to protect their customers and the privacy of people.
And you don't have to go with just me saying it, I'm pretty sure it's part of both the various UN and EU human rights as signed by the EU nations, as well as enshrined in local laws. (although those are constantly under attack by the wonderful representatives of the people)
All that is completely separate of what the rioters are doing or what their motivation is, as I said - there are procedures and court order processes available to request data within a proper legal framework. And don't let the police cheat with some BS anti-terrorism-law abuse either.
WE SHOULD ALL TAKE PAUSE FOR A MOMENT AND CONSIDER - IS IT REALLY WORTH WHILE TO TAKE A RISK OF OFFENDING TEAM POISON BY HELPING THE POLICE?
SPEAKING PERSONALLY, I KNOW THAT I HAVE CERTAINLY LEARNED MY LESSON AND WILL BE MAKING SURE TO ASK PERMISSION FIRST BEFORE I EVER CALL THE POLICE AGAIN.
I don't think some of you get it! Lots of innocent people that may have nothing at all to do with the riots will be arrested just because they were in the area! That's why the London police already fucked up once and that's why this is happening, then they want to go and arrest people that could just be hiding in their homes and businesses trying to stay safe! You really think that's a good idea?

Team Poison really need to do their homework; the people participating in and orchestrating these riots are not doing so for a just cause.
The violence here is without sense or purpose, it is indiscriminate in it's nature and it's causing very many innocent people to lose homes, businesses, jobs.
Whilst I generally support hacking endeavours, I think it is pretty low to prevent a company from helping to stop further unjustified and undirected violence and threatening to release their employees information to the idiots that are rioting.
If the perpetrators of the unrest really want to change their lives, they should get the hell off of benefits, get back to school, and get a job. Looting and destroying other peoples livelihoods is out of order, and protecting those people by threatening a party willing to assist in their capture clearly shows a deep ignorance of the situation.
So as long as the riots for a 'good reason" its ok to destroy the property of those that have nothing to do with the "good reason"?
Spend more time dealing with the upper crust such as Your Prime Minister and his gang of looters, Guys like Rupert Murdock and his gang of thieves and paid for police protection and rioting like this won't happen. People are finally saying enough is enough.
Glad to see some people don't take that stuff lying dowm,
Note to RiM: the UK is not Bahrain or something.
Team Poison from their own demands are blackmailing to protect looters. Protecting criminals who are stealing property and injuring people. Hacking for personal gain!
These are a much lower morale hacker than Anon or Lulz. Team Poison is just that to everyone and thing, the same as the corrupt governments that hack, steal and commit violence for personal gain.
May a person be judged by their actions as will alone never does a damn thing.
