PERIPHERAL MAKER Logitech has made a wireless mouse especially for use with tablet devices running Google's Android 3.1 Honeycomb operating system.
You might be wondering why the mouse is specifically for tablets and we wondered the same thing. The only answer is that the mouse uses Bluetooth connectivity without a USB dongle.
Logitech has creatively named it the Tablet Mouse for Android 3.1+ and said, "Make your tablet work for you with our first-ever mouse made for Android tablets."

Logitech hasn't told us why the mouse won't work on Android versions lower than 3.1. The mouse uses a laser for tracking, which won't work on glass or mirrors, and is powered by two AA batteries.
Some tablets do come with full size USB slots so you can plug in a wired mouse or keyboard if you wish but others don't, such as the Motorola's Xoom, so this could actually be handy. That is if you want to use a mouse on an operating system that is designed for touch control.
The mouse has left and right buttons and a scroll wheel meaning you can scroll up and down, as you'd expect. Bluetooth allows you to use the mouse up to 30 feet away from the tablet, where you presumably can't see the screen, let alone the cursor.
The Tablet Mouse for Android 3.1+ is available now for $49.99 and looks remarkably like Logitech's V470 wireless mouse which retails for $10 less. But let us also not forget that the mouse comes with a protective case. µ

I think this is a great idea ever since i got my keyboard for my tablet it feels like i have a mini laptop i can not wait for the mouse i am deffinitly getting it!!!
It's bluetooth. The issue is with pairing. They don't know how to get it to pair with an older version of Android. I had issues with my apple keyboard. Essentially you type in the number on the android device with the softkey keyboard and then type it in again on the bluetooth keyboard. Under Android 3.1+ it prompts you and tells you what to type in. So, how do you pair it with the mouse? Who cares? Just pair the device and there's no need to exclude android 3.0 and below.
I wish Logitech would make a simple 3-button mouse (with no disturbing wheel at the center) for people with large hands like me. They used to make the "Wingman Gaming Mouse", but that has not been on sale for years and it is actually still too small.
I want a mouse that fits into my hand and I would pay real Euros for that!
Your forgettting that most android tablets and even some android phone shave HDMI output so you can park your tablet alongside the large screen TV and use the wireless mouse and keyboard
(hope this comes also)
- to play FPS games
- make powerpoint slides
- do your office work
- etc
wihtout the need for a laptop or desktop.
For traveling, a folding wirless keyboard and wireless mouse plus your andorid tablet or smartphone may replace the netbook for productivity and gaming.
They even have bluetooth game pads.
