Antisec suspect is charged

Coppers hedge their bets on ‘Topiary’ arrest

THE TEENAGE ALLEGED HACKER arrested last week on suspicion of e-crimes and thought to be Lulzsec mouthpiece Topiary has been charged by the police.

According to a report at the BBC the young man, an 18 year old who was picked up on the Shetland Isles, was charged Sunday, 31 July. According to our research, he might or might not be Topiary.

The chap in question is named Jake Davis and Scotland Yard has charged him with unauthorised computer access and conspiracy to carry out a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) website.

The attack occurred in late June and was confirmed both on the SOCA web site and in a tweet from Lulzsec itself. "Tango down - Soca.gov.uk - in the name of #AntiSec", said the message from the hacktivists.

The attack on SOCA was just one of the Antisec and Lulzsec shenanigans, so whether this chap is one of the main members of Lulzsec remains to be seen. On Friday, the Metropolitan Police would only confirm to The INQUIRER that the arrested man was English, despite some suggestions online that he was a patsy. µ

Typical...

But tell us, seriously, when will Rupert Murdoch be charged for hacking?
