The INQUIRER's readers support Lulzsec

THE HACKTIVIST GROUP Lulzsec is making friends and enemies and taking scalps with its online activities and so far you readers of The INQUIRER are in support of its activities.

Just under a third of respondents to our most recent poll - "Lulzsec keeps making headlines and taunting its enemies: Do you support its actions?" - said that they did not. The rest however, do, but for a variety of reasons.

About 18 per cent of respondents welcomed the work of the group because it hacked Rupert Murdoch and agreed with the suggestion that yes, it was a force for good because "it hacked Murdoch - what's not to like?"

Nine per cent also approved, agreeing that the group is a "good laugh and has fun with its targets", and the largest contingent, 44 per cent agreed with the suggestion, "it's about time someone exposed rampant insecurity and hypocrisy."

Of the 29 per cent that do not like Lulzsec, 14 per cent dismissed them as just script kiddies. Meanwhile, out in tinned food and shotgun shells territory, 15 per cent said that all hackers should be prosecuted and imprisoned. µ
