ELECTRONICS FIRM Binatone has announced its Readme Mobile e-reader that runs the Android operating system.

The Readme Mobile will come with a 7in colour touchscreen, a Qwerty keyboard and a navigation thumb pad. We popped over to the Malmaison hotel in London where Binatone showed us the e-reader.

Kieran Cahill, product marketing executive at Binatone said the Readme Mobile is "priced at £129 and will be available in the next couple of weeks".

The device runs Google's Android operating system version 2.1 and has WiFi connectivity. The screen is an inch bigger than that of the Amazon Kindle and has 480x800 resolution.

There is 2GB of storage built into the Readme Mobile and also a microSD card slot so you can expand this further. Binatone said the battery will last for up to six hours. Although the device defaults to landscape mode, the screen can rotate into portrait mode too and there is a kick stand you so don't have to hold the device in your hand.

It has a basic set of applications such as a web browser, email access and a built in video, music and image player. This means you can use the Readme Mobile as a kind of tablet device, too. µ
