The UK is a nation of Googlers

Most internet searches are done through it

INTERNET METRICS MONKEYS at Experian Hitwise have reported that in June over 90 per cent of all UK internet searches were made through Google, making us wonder whether Yahoo and Bing and others are sitting in a corner sobbing.

The data, reported by the Independent, show that 92 per cent of searches take place in Google, 2.88 per cent in Microsoft's Bing, and 2.96 per cent in Yahoo. Here the Telegraph includes the Yahoo exclamation mark, often several times, but given the size of its market share we think it's fairer to leave it off.

Ask, the butler-ish answer service, managed to grow its share, and although it fell -0.09 per cent year on year, it grew its monthly share by 0.03 per cent and has a 0.71 per cent chunk of June's searches.

Google's dominance in internet search is perhaps well established, and it's possible that it might soon enjoy similar success in the social networking sphere.

Its Google+, which Google launched only recently, has around 10 million users already, according to internet chatter, and could hit 20 million by the end of the weekend. This is well away from Facebook's numbers, but it's still early days, and if even Mark Zuckerberg uses it then it must be doing something right. µ

... not surprised.... 37k Google Searches since April 2007.

Not sure what I did before Google, because I didn't go to the library 37k times in 4 years.
