Amazon will launch an Android tablet soon

ONLINE BOOKSELLER Amazon is readying the tablet device that everyone assumes that it is building, according to a report at the Wall Street Journal.

The Android tablet will slot into the Amazon Kindle range, but will lack some of the more pad-like devices we have come to expect, such as a camera for video-conferencing.

The battle lines will not be drawn over who can put one face in front of another face then, but will be over content, and Amazon will look to lure its users onto its app store.

"I don't know whether Amazon will be able to compete with Apple head-to-head on hardware sophistication," said Sarah Rotman Epps, a Forrester Research analyst.

The two firms are already pushing each other in the chest over the very existence of the Amazon app store, which Apple seems to be asserting was only built just to confuse its customers and waste their time.

A judge has made a decision on that, but it will be the people that judge whether the Amazon tablet can really challenge the iconic Ipad. µ
