SMILEY FACED PHONE FIRM LG is supposedly going to make a Blackberry style smartphone called the Optimus Pro.

Italian web site Androidworld.it has brought us the first information and look at LG's Optimus Pro. It's completely different from the rest of the Optimus line, which all have large touchscreens.

The Optimus Pro, model name C660, will have a 2.8in capacitive touchscreen with a full Qwerty keyboard below it. It will be powered by an 800MHz processor and have 150MB of memory.

Like other Optimus handsets, it will run Google's Android operating system and will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It will come with a 3MP rear facing camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and HSDPA connectivity.

The price when it tips up will be €179, which is around £160, but this could easily change. There is currently no indication of when the handset will become available.

Looking at the specifications and style of the phone makes it similar to the Motorola Fire that we wrote about earlier today. Both are budget Android smartphones with a 2.8in touchscreen and a full Qwerty keyboard.

We contacted LG to find out more about the Optimus Pro but it has not got back to us with any further information yet. µ
