Apple Iphone 5 rumour mill is spinning

Same as the iPhone 4 but with loads of changes
Fri Jul 08 2011, 11:56

MAKER OF SHINY TOYS Apple is currently mute on the next Iphone and its details, but that has not stopped reports about the device appearing.

We take a quick look at the possibilities.

The most recent rumour is that the fruit themed firm has ordered 15 million units of the next Iphone with notebook maker Pegatron, Digitimes reports.

As far as we know the phone will be called the Iphone 5, but another possibility seems to be the Iphone 4S.

All the previous Iphones had been revealed by this time in the year, but Digitimes said "the iPhone 5, which does not seem to have any major update from iPhone 4, is set for shipment in September".

We've heard other things about the look of the phone, mostly from Digitimes, with one interesting possibility being a curved screen like the Nexus S.

On the hardware front we are expecting a faster processor, an 8MP camera and a 4in screen. As with the Ipad, we can almost guarantee that the new Iphone will be thinner and lighter, something the cappuccino company seems set on achieving with each new product.

The Wall Street Journal is talking about a move to Qualcomm to supply the processor and even wireless charging, while The Telegraph is suggesting that, "Apple will release two iPhone models this year, including a cheaper version of the handset."

With so many rumours around, the next Iphone could be almost anything. Luckily September isn't all that far away, so we hope that by then we can put all the rumours to rest and reveal precisely what the next Iphone will offer. µ

Who cares about a curved glass?

People really care about "ooohhh, the glass has a tiny curve in its edge"????

That's what you look for when you buy a new cell phone?

The added expense isn't worth it.
It does absolutely nothing.

Your WSJ comment is wrong

From the WSJ article:

"One person familiar with the matter said the new iPhone will operate on Qualcomm Inc.'s wireless chips."

So the wireless chip and not the processor stated in your article.
