Sony sticks to same old line after PSN hack

Three months later and the story remains the same

JAPANESE ELECTRONICS GIANT Sony can't find anything new to say about the hacking attack that started in April and kept services offline for months.

In his keynote speech at the Intellect Consumer Electronics Conference in London today, Sony UK's managing director, Gildas Pelliet had nothing new to say on the subject except what appeared to be some carefully scripted words.

In the speech Pelliet said, "The hacking that happened to Sony has shocked us," and added, "Improving the security has been done," which we knew, we think. What we want to know is what it is doing to make sure that it will not happen again."

When questioned further about the hacking of the Playstation Network, Pelliet pretty much repeated what he didn't say during his speach, but he did add, "Sony takes the matter seriously and 90 to 95 per cent of the Playstation Network users are back online," and, "We are pleased to say the no one's credit card details have been compromised."

The comments come a day after Sony announced that it will fully restore the Playstation Network and Qriocity services. By way of apology Sony will be offering returning customers free subscriptions for 30 to 60 days and a couple of free games. µ
