Samsung might have flogged 3 million Galaxy S II smartphones

Should have sold more
Mon Jul 04 2011, 17:36

KOREAN ELECTRONICS GIANT Samsung has announced it has sold over 3 million of its Galaxy S II smartphones, having previously announced 3 million pre-orders.

Confusion has set in over the sales figures since we can't work out whether this new figure is the same one as the old one, which suggests that since the pre-sales no more have been sold, or whether we should be writing that Samsung has sold six million of the handsets.

We asked Samsung, which, given a day to work out the maths for us, failed. In the press release, where things are much simpler, JK Shin, president and head of mobile communications at Samsung said, "This milestone reflects the continued strong support from our carrier partners around the world who have chosen the GALAXY S II as their flagship Android device."

The phone has a dual-core processor and a 4.3-in screen with Super AMOLED Plus technology. The phone is a major rival to Apple's Iphone, but we are expecting to see the next version(s) of that device later this year.

The two companies have been locked in legal battles over their mobile devices recently. The latest development is that Samsung has dropped the lawsuit against the fruit themed firm in which it asked to see the Iphone 5 and Ipad 3. µ

@Iphoney...LMAO!!!

It's obvious you don't come here often or you'd have previously witnessed at least one or two or twelve of my many anti-cRapple, anti-Steve "the Son of Satan" Jobs rants over the years. No worries, though, because I see where you're coming from. That post was the ONLY ONE that I've ever spelled Iphone like Jobs (his uNholiness) intended. I only spelled it that way because I didn't want to draw attention away from the point I was making about mike's disgraceful display of lack of English writing skills. I will say I had to force myself to spell it with the small 'i', but had no idea it would result in someone thinking I'm an aPple cult lemming fanboi. Oh the irony!

@ Jimbo

It seems you are very upset over "mike" daring to recommend something other than your beloved Iphone.

Oops, did I misspell that...let's try again:

a Iphone, a Iphone, a Iphone,a Iphone,a Iphone,a Iphone,a Iphone,a Iphone...phew!...a Ipad, a Ipad,a Ipad,a Ipad,a Ipad,a Ipad,a Ipad,a Ipad,a Ipad.

There, all fixed up. You can go have a dump now. Surprised you are on the Inquirer, the land of the "Iphone".

Noisy ads

what's with the new ads playing sound without me clicking on them? I've read this since it started, but will stop if the noisy ads don't.

@mike [rolls eyes while shaking head back and forth]

"I'm not surprised I had a iphone before and..."

Well mike, I'm not surprised you had AN iPhone either. Exactly which month of third grade elementary school did you decide to drop out to become a consumer products reviewer? In just three short sentences you've managed to convince us all that you possess an absolute anti-mastery of the English language. On the other hand, maybe I should be congratulating you for actually spelling a few words correctly. As the infamous Sara Palin might ask, "How's that frontal lobotomy thingy working out for ya?"

My advice to you, mike, is to turn off all Internet connected electronic devices and immediately proceed to the nearest elementary school to beg the principal to please let you back in. We'll be glad you did!
