TAIWANESE LAPTOP MAKER Acer has announced its Travelmate 5760 laptop and said it will tip up next month.

Acer has announced other laptops this month already, including the Aspire Ethos and the Timelinex, and now we have the Travelmate 5760. It is a 15.6in notebook that will weigh 2.8kg and measure 23.1mm thick.
Acer said, "The TravelMate 5760 takes advantage of the second generation Intel Core processor family with mobile Intel HM65 Express Chipset ensuring smart performance that adapts to users' needs, giving a significantly faster performance to speed through demanding tasks and boost productivity."
The Travelmate 5760 will come with a choice between a Sandy Bridge Intel Core i3 and Core i5 processor. As standard it will come with an Intel HD Graphics 3000 chip or the optional upgrade to an Nvidia Optimus discrete graphics card.
The display is a 15.6in LED-backlit TFT LCD with 1366 x 768 resolution. Storage space will be up to 750GB capacity and there will be 4GB of RAM that can be doubled to 8GB.
Acer said that the laptop will have a webcam, three USB ports and an HDMI output. WiFi and Bluetooth technology will be featured with an option for 3G too. There will be the option of either a 6-cell or 9-cell battery.
There are a number of security features on the Travelmate 5760 including Acer's own Proshield Security software suite and Absolute Data Protection. Acer said, "With built-in Anti-Theft technology, if the notebook is lost or stolen users can remotely delete files, freeze or lock it."
The Travelmate will have an oversized multi-touch touchpad and the Finetouch keyboard has convex shaped space and arrow keys. Acer said that the laptop will be available in the UK next month starting at £379. µ
