HP wins a printer ink patent case

We're glad we aren’t paper based
Mon Jun 13 2011, 09:25

FLOGGER OF EXPENSIVE PRINTER INK HP has made an early win in a legal case concerning patents on printer cartridges.

In a ruling the US International Trade Commission (ITC) found that two firms were infringing HP's prized possessions and told them to stop.

MicroJet Technology Company was found to be infringing HP patents as it was importing and selling inkjet printer cartridges, while Asia Pacific Microsystems was deemed to be contributing to the infringement.

"HP is pleased with the outcome on these matters and the ITC's pursuit of legal enforcement against practices that violate intellectual property rights," said Andy Binder, director ot inkjet and web solutions market development in the imaging and printing group at HP.

"We are committed to quality in our products and will continue pursuing action to protect HP's innovations and, by extension, value to our customers."

This decision is based on a complaint filed by HP in June of last year. HP claimed that the firms were violating section 337 of the 1930 Tariff Act.

HP also raised complaints against Mipo Technology, Mipo Science & Technology, Mextec America, SinoTime Technologies, All Colors of Miami, and PTC. µ

Buy Laser

This is why I buy Brother laser printers. The printer costs more, but the toner doesn't dry up, and doesn't cost more than the damn printer when I do have to replace it.

Think About It

You have a choice. You could buy a really expensive bottle of decent perfume and have a beautiful lady attached to your arm, or pay more to buy some HP ink and a bigger hole on your credit card bill.

I know where my money's going....

A PRINTER IS USEFUL

I DONT USE IT OFTEN, BUT WHEN I NEED IT IT'S HANDY. I GOT MINE FOR FREE WITH ANOTHER PURCHASE. IT HAS A BED SCANNER ON TOP & IS USEFUL AS A MINI PHOTO COPIER!
BUBBLE JET PRINTER INK IS AMONG THE WORLD'S PUREST SUBSTANCES, THEIR CLEAN ROOM PRACTICES SURPASS EVEN CHIP MANUFACTURERS. EVEN WITHOUT THE RAZOR BLADE PRICING SCHEME, PRINTER INK IS STILL GOING TO BE FAIRLY EXPENSIVE.

Horrible HP

HPs entire reason for being is to sell outlandishly priced printer ink. They have programed their entire printer line to suck the money right out of your wallet. It is disgusting to be forced to change a cartridge when prompted by the printer, even though the cartridge is not yet empty.

Make a statement by making a different choice when the subject is printers. HP could care less about the quality of your printouts.

Price high

Reality if prices for printer ink wasnt so high, the prices of the printers themselves wouldnt be so low, i'm sure HP isnt making much out of a £50 printer after the retailer makes their bit

keep prices high

The only reason HP done this was to up their sales of printer ink and to keep high their printer ink prices what are a complete rip off.
