AMD dusts off its FX gaming chips brand

Gaming evolved, apparently

CHIP DESIGN HOUSE AMD announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) today that it is going to dust off its FX gaming brand of CPU models.

Based on AMD's Bulldozer line of chips, the new FX CPUs were due to launch much earlier but the company has postponed the launch until later in the year. That hasn't stopped AMD from revealing some details at E3 so PC gamers can get excited over the refreshed FX line of chips, which has been out of commission since the company's last Athlon 64 FX a few years ago.

AMD said that the first kit supporting the FX tag will be the Scorpius set with an AMD 9-series chipset mainboard and an AMD Radeon HD 6000 graphics card. The FX brand will also appear on some of AMD's upcoming eight-core Zambezi chips.

AMD also talked up its so far embarrassingly paltry 3D support and claimed it's lining up some big game titles like Deus Ex: Human Revolution and others from Bioware, Creative Assembly and Codemasters that will be playable in native HD 3D.

"By combining an unlocked, native eight-core processor, the latest in chipset technology, and AMD's latest graphics cards, FX customers will enjoy an unrivalled feature set and amazing control over their PC's performance, " said AMD marketing VP Leslie Sobon.

The chip company then talked about its Gaming Evolved package, which is almost a direct rip from Halo's tagline and a PR exercise to rival Nvidia's The Way It's Meant To Be Played line. This will have games that support DX11 and AMD's Eyefinity multiple monitor hook up, dual graphics and AMDs native HD 3D technology. µ

Looks good

Karlos you make no damn sense.

Anyway, this looks promising, AMD is showing confidence in their CPU, I hope Bulldozer shows potential as well as great power.
