Microsoft is flattered by IOS 5 features

Claims Apple has been inspired by WP7
Tue Jun 07 2011, 11:20

SOFTWARE HOUSE Microsoft has said it is flattered by the features found on Apple's freshly announced IOS 5 that it claims have been inspired by Windows Phone 7 (WP7).

Joe Belfiore, who "Runs the team doing Windows Phone 7 product definition & design" has tweeted that he felt flattered after yesterday's announcement of IOS 5 by Apple's CEO Steve Jobs.

Jobs announced various updates to the Apple's IOS for its mobile Ithings, namely the Iphone, and Belfiore said many of them have been taken from WP7.

His first tweet read, "Feeling flattered today. Lots of great WP ideas headed to iOS. (Camera button/above lock, auto-upoad of pics, better notifications ... )".

First, he claimed in a previous tweet that the camera button has been a feature of WP7 for eight months. It's also found in HTC's latest Android overlay on phones like the HTC Sensation.

Let's face it, IOS needed a change to its notification system, but we'd say that the combined approach on one screen is something that Android users will be the most familiar with.

A later post from Belfiore said, "Feeling flattered today part 2 ... wi-fi sync, built-in twitter, background downlad service, short-messaging chats (though we do Facebook!)".

The claims is somewhat tenuous since WiFi sync was definitely a possibility long before WP7. Short-message chats make RIM's Blackberry Chat spring to mind rather than handsets running Microsoft's mobile operating system. µ

Come on MS!

I think MS should get their head out of their ass & let their product do the talking.

It doesn't really matter who copied who..all that matter's is who is providing a decent ecosystem & ease of use for the consumer.

iTunes is a P.o.S but if you buy an iPad or iPhone or iPod you just need that 1 thing to do all your stuff.

What's MS got? Stupid Zune software? that's a bigger P.o.S than iTunes!

Back to work MS & work hard...its not that you already got apple beat in the mobile sector

Wifi sync

WiFi sync isdefinitel ripped off Microsoft. You may recall that the original Zune did that /years/ ago.

Circle of life...

Everyone steals from everyone. Let's face it though, Microsoft took their ideas from Apple, Google, and RIM. Now iOS5 is snagging some from Android and RIM with Microsoft feeling "flattered" by that?

lisa is a hoe, i know her...

There is nothing in house at apple about palo alto and xerox. You can't just be ignorant your whole life. The fact is that apples desktop was just a bad implementation of the original.

And

And so it's business as usual for Apple, everything they do is so called "inspired".

"Microsoft has said it is flattered by the features found on Apple's freshly announced IOS 5 that it claims have been inspired by Windows Phone 7 (WP7)".

That's only fair, as the original idea for Windows was inspired by Apple's Lisa and inhouse research in the early 1980s.

What goes around, comes around.
