THE FRUIT THEMED flogger of shiny toys, Apple is readying the release of information about Lion, the next installment in its Mac OS X operating system series, as well as its Icloud, um cloud services.
The company has announced that it will discuss Lion in a keynote presentation next Monday, 6 June, at the start of its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), and teased out a tiny mention of its Icloud gewgaw - which will likely compete against virtual music services like Spotify, Google Music and Amazon's digital offering and act as a digital locker for music you already own.
The announcement did not say much more than you would expect and did not go beyond what we already know, except of course for the fact that the event will see the return of Steve Jobs, who has been suffering with a form of cancer and remained out of the spotlight.
As well as seeing Jobs for the first time in a while attendees will learn that Lion is the eighth major release of Mac OS X, and that IOS 5 will appear on the well known Ipad, Iphone and Ipod Touch. We expect that on ther day they will find out a whole lot more too.
The developer release of Lion has been around since late February and with thousands of developers expected to appear at WWDC, Apple's fanbois will be pegging the adulation meter. µ
