WEB BROWSER DEVELOPER Opera has managed to get the latest version of its lightweight Opera Mini browser on Apple's App Store.
Opera's Mini 6 web browser is designed specifically for mobile devices, featuring traffic compression in order to lower data usage and post faster page load times on dodgy mobile connections. Now Opera has released its Opera Mini 6 browser for the Iphone and Ipad, following its Android release earlier this year.
With Opera's latest version supporting Apple's Iphone 4, the company says that the web browser adapts the page for the high resolution and screen size of the device. Opera Mini 6 does the same for Ipads, with the firm saying the browser switches to a "more convenient view" with smoother scrolling.
Opera was the first major web browser to make it onto Apple's App Store. The previous version of the firm's Opera Mini browser hit the App Store back in April 2010 and it has proven popular with users who bothered to load another browser on their IOS device. Opera CEO Lars Boilesen said, "We have put in a lot of rehearsal and clever thought behind the new experience. The Opera Mini browser has always kicked up the tempo when downloading pages; now the browsing flows along to a smooth, easy beat."
In a separate report, Opera has found that the majority of its mobile users hit social networking websites, with Facebook generally coming out on top as the most popular website around the globe with the exception of Google in a few countries.
Opera Mini 6 has been available on Google's Android for a while and now Apple IOS users have an updated version of Opera's mobile web browser. µ
