China’s great firewall creator gets hit by a shoe
THE CREATOR of the great firewall of China, Fang Binxing has been hit with a shoe by a protester unhappy about its restrictions.
The Guardian reports that Binxing was hit by at least one shoe while at Wuhan University, a fact apparently confirmed on Twitter.
@hanunyi, writing in his native language, confessed that it was he that hopped home from the event in his socks having parted with his shoes. "The egg missed the target. The first shoe hit the target," he tweeted. "The second shoe was blocked by a man and a woman."
The shoe hurling activist decided to launch the attack after a fellow social networker revealed that the software architect and president of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications was appearing at Wuhan University to present a talk.
Perhaps unaware of the power of the thrown shoe - ask George Bush - Hanunyi later added, "I didn't think this little thing would get such a big response." Then, in response to questions about whether he expected to be arrested, he said, "So far, not yet. Just woke up. Thank you."

Comprehension fail :)
The guy who twitted about it was the guy who threw the shoe (hence saying he has to hop home with 1 foot with socks), not the one who got hit.
So the guy who made the firewall, apparently, is posting about being shoed in protest against that creation, on twitter, a site that the firewall blocks? As a frequent traveler to china I am aware that it is fairly trivial to get around, but it strikes me as odd that the creator is so blatant in using a blocked site.
Will this result in action from the Chinese government like restricting sales of shoes. Everyone must present an I.D. along with their photo being taken (much like trying to use a computer at an internet cafe)?
Everyone who buys a pair will then be placed onto a watch list.
A shoe thrown at an Information terrorist by anyone is a protestor/future torture victim.
Protestors are only considered terrorist by Dictators and other self centered asshats.
You know I think this shows that as a race we've become more civilized. I mean 50-60 years ago we would walk up to and shoot people we disagreed with that much but now we throw shoes. In another hundred years maybe we'll all be throwing nice italian shoes or maybe virtual shoes that just delete your twitter posts.
...walk around armed with shoes.
