GRAPHICS CARD MANUFACTURER HIS has released its take on AMD's Radeon HD6750 and HD6770 boards.
HIS launched its mid-range HD6750 and HD6770 FAN video cards with 1GB of GDDR5 memory. Both boards are based on rebadged 40nm Juniper chips found on last year's Radeon HD5750 and HD5770 cards, with HIS doing little to differentiate them by leaving the clock speeds at 700MHz and 850MHz for the HD6750 FAN and HD6770 FAN boards respectively.
Both HIS HD6750 and HD6770 FAN boards are dual slot affairs, with the HD6750 FAN having a single DVI plus Displayport and HDMI ports. The HD6770 FAN has two DVI ports and the Displayport and HDMI ports.
It's been widely reported that AMD's Radeon HD67XX series is merely a rebadging exercise and, while HIS puts together a decent enough package, aside from HDMI 1.4a compatibility there's not much difference performance-wise over its previous generation counterparts.
Expect the HIS AMD Radeon HD6750 FAN card to retail around the £80 mark with the HD6770 FAN card coming in at £100. Or if you want to save a few bob and don't need HDMI 1.4a support, go for a HIS AMD Radeon HD5750 or HD5770 instead. µ
