Iphone users are in the red

Nevermind the white version, here’s the bank charges
Mon Apr 04 2011, 16:45

USERS OF SHINY Iphones are often to be found lurking in the red part of their overdraft facility, according to a particularly intrusive survey carried out by Yougov on behalf of a public relations firm engaged by a banking software group.

In the survey, which looked at just over 2,000 UK citizens, 66 per cent of respondents said that they used a mobile phone and around a third said that they had a smartphone. Even more surprisingly, two per cent said that they did not know, which makes The INQUIRER wonder whether they realised that they were taking part in a survey in the first place.

The survey, sponsored by banking software firm IE, found out - perhaps unnecessarily - that Iphone users were most likely to spend themselves into the red side of their bank account, while Blackberry users were least likely to buy applications.

The former, however, were seen to be least likely to spend beyond of their means. Information that must seem valuable to banking software firms with market research budgets burning holes in their pockets.

Reportedly 18 per cent of Iphone users were found to be often in overdraft, as opposed to just 12 per cent in the national average. A finding that suggests that Iphone users are money-wasting, trend-chasing, live-beyond-your-meansers.

Iphone users were also found to be spending the most time peeking at their handsets and Yougov found that 18 per cent of them spend at least four hours a day with either their eyes, their fingers or their ears attached to their Iphone. By contrast just around four per cent of Android and Blackberry users could say the same.

Android users are apparently a mixed bunch and Yougov found that 4 million Brits over the age of 18 used the Google-based handsets. Its appeal also crossed age boundaries, so while just around a third of the youngest users went for Android phones, so did a quarter of so-called silver surfers.

Iphone users were also found to be the most likely to earn under £20,000, while the largest proportion earning £50,000 were found to be Blackberry users. µ

blackberry users

funny how trends change, most blackberry users aren't business £50k+ types anymore, they're kids/students who don't want to pay for the 1000+ text messages they send to all their pals.

People who seek to correct the spelling of a I(i)phone or any other fruit based product have less credibility than the articles they seek to dis. Seriosly kids, no one really gives a shit, we all still see the word iphone, nOw GRoW uP ;)

Iphone or iPhone

Wyatt, while you are correct from a branding perspective, grammatically there is nothing wrong with spelling "iPhone/Iphone" with a capital "I". As a proper noun, that is the correct use of capital letters.

Perhaps you should redirect that particular part of your comment to:

The Marketing Department
Apple Towers
Twatville
CA.

Do be careful though. When they read that somebody has dared question their marketing capability, they may choke on/spill their Double Venti Nonfat Organic Frappuccino with Whipped Cream and cinnamon dust

ITS ALL TRUE

I MAKE $110,000 PER YEAR AND I WIELD THE MIGHTY BLACKBERRY, ONLY BECUZ I GOT IT FREE FROM WORK. I PRETTY MUCH NEVER USE IT, IN FACT I FORGOT IT ON MY DESK AT WORK TODAY. I HAD TO RUN, I WAS LATE TO VISIT MY PO=PROBATION OFFICER.

I ALSO HAVE ARCHOS 7 HOME TABLET RUNNING ANDROID 1.5 ONLY BECAUSE I GOT IT ON SALE FOR $100 AND I DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR SOFTWARE OR ANYTHING. IT IS NOT TOO SHABBY AT ALL, BUT I HAVE NO MULTI-TOUCH ANYTHING ESPECIALLY IPOD IPHONE IPAD.

MY BROTHER IN LAW IS A MAC LOVER AND HAS AN IPHONE 4 OR 5 I FORGET WHICH, AND HE VERY NEARLY WENT BANKRUPT. HE HAS 2+2 KIDDIES AND THEY CLAMOR FOR THEIR IPODS & IPHONES (BUT NO IPADS).

THE SAD THING IS EVERYTHING IN MY STORY IS 100% TRUE, ESPECIALLY THE PO WHO IS A REAL BEEEYATCH. SHE PROBABLY HAS IPHONE 5.

Proofers, anyone?

Hello,

When you say "The former [ie. blackberry users], however, were seen to be least likely to spend beyond of their means," you seem to contradict the very next paragraph.

Also, "Information that must seem valuable to banking software firms with market research budgets burning holes in their pockets" is a fragment.

Throughout your article you use the term "Iphone," when it's properly called "iPhone."

"Its appeal" does not have a clear antecedent - are you referring to Android or iPhone? If Android, you need to actually use the word, since the word Android in "Android users" is an adjective, not a noun you can refer back to.

Your article is interesting, but it was painful to read.

Thanks,
-Wyatt Best
