ZTE HAS UNVEILED a 7-inch Android tablet that will be available in the UK in the second half of 2011.

The Light2 will be available for UK consumers in the second half of this year, said ZTE. The current specifications given at a ZTE briefing in London today were somewhat limited, but what we do know is that the device will run Android 2.2 Froyo and will have a 1GHz processor.

Wu Sa, director of mobile devices at ZTE, said that the company is aiming to start selling the Light2 in the UK at the beginning of the third quarter.

zte-light-2The Light2 is a significant upgrade from ZTE's first 7-inch Light tablet, which runs Android 2.1 and has a 600MHz processor. The display will remain the same 7-inch touchscreen found on the Light with 800x480 resolution, but this time with capacitive technology.

Considering the specifications are so limited we can expect at least the same if not better than the first Light, which has a 3MP rear camera, a G Sensor, WiFi, Bluetooth.

ZTE also had its latest smartphone, the Skate, on show today and gave The INQUIRER details about its 10-inch version of the Light tablet as well. µ
