GERMAN DISPLAY MANUFACTURER Evoluce has launched a massive gesture control display with integrated 3D sensors.
Evoluce lifted the lid on its Ivoluce, which is a 46-inch HD LCD display. The company has also added integrated 3D depth-sensing technology. This apparently works in conjunction with its bespoke gesture control software, dubbed WIN&I.
Evoluce claimed that the 3D sensors and gesture control software can be used to operate Windows 7 and that other applications can be controlled by all manner of gestures. The technology detects your mitts waving about in front of the screen, but if you don't fancy that you can use the multi-touch gestures on the screen with support for up to six fingers.
"Direct and intuitive interfaces will change the way we interact with the PC and consumer electronics in everyday life." said Evoluce CEO Wofgang Herfurtner.
Most Minority Report technologies turn out to be rubbish, but Evoluce has a background in coming up with weird and wonderful advanced natural user GUI and hardware interfaces.
The company turned its hand to an interesting Kinect hack. This allowed multiple users to connect to Kinect, which simultaneously controls multiple multi-touch and multi-gesture Windows 7 applications, including Flash and Java.
The flagship model Ivoluce 46-inch multi-touch HD LCD display is available now for 4,995€ and there is a smaller model for 3,995€. µ
