INSECURITY FIRM Trusteer has announced a service for finding malware on mobile devices connected to a server by examining the way the device interrogates the server.

With the expectation that more and more people will use mobile devices at work that they also use at home, and will log on from remote locations regularly, Trusteer's service aims to avoid malware transfer to the server.

Trusteer's claims its service, called Pinpoint, has an 80 per cent detection rate with zero false positives, while the firm says that competitors achieve only 20 per cent detection.

Talking to The INQUIRER Yaron Dycian, Trusteer VP for products said, "Our desktop product is close to 100 per cent detection. Pinpoint achieves 80 per cent because it is on the server, not on the mobile device and some malware has not yet been encountered."

The malware behaviour is detected because Trusteer uses intelligence about existing and past malware. Malware command and control servers are one source of this intelligence. This information is provided in real-time through a cloud service that is constantly updated with new behaviors. The firm also has investigators who engage with malware developers on their forums to find out what is going on. µ

Check your FACTS

This was NOT Safari.

This was a 3rd party Internet Applications.

Congratulations Android, your Chrome browser beat an unnamed 3rd party browser.

Inquirer ... you might want to check the facts before you run with a hoax story - I know it's hard to chec a fact when it's so much fun to bash Apple.

God help us!

If Trusteer's mobile device anti malware is anything like their pointless PC version, then it'll be worse thsn actually getting a price of malware ihe first place!
