PRE-ORDERS are now being taken for the HTC Flyer tablet, which is available for £600 from online retailer clove.co.uk with stock expected to arrive in mid-April.
The HTC Flyer is HTC's first tablet on the market. The £600 7-inch tablet is a WiFi and 3G model with a WiFi only version, which is not available for pre-order yet, currently priced at £423 at clove.co.uk. The device will ship with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and the HTC Sense user interface.
HTC has said that the device will be updated to Android 3.0 Honeycomb some time after release. The tablet comes with a 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot. It has Bluetooth and GPS plus 5MP rear facing and 1.3MP front facing webcams.
For comparison the 7-inch Galaxy Tab with 32GB of storage can be obtained for around £200 less than the Flyer. Also available for the same £600 price tag as the HTC Flyer is Samsung's 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab.
Although the 7-inch flyer isn't a direct rival to Apple's Ipad, there are rumours of a 10-inch HTC tablet floating around as the tablet market continues to heat up. µ

Having owned several HTC devices I would take any rumors of an update to Honeycomb with a pinch of salt.
HTC Kaiser was promised updates to improve graphics and 3d performance: still waiting.
HTC Leo rumored on HTCs own website to have upgrade from Windows Mobile 6 to Windows Phone 7: still waiting.
I am sure HTC Flyer will be updated to Honeycomb but as usual this will be via the unofficial xda-developers.com and not via HTC.
Come on HTC prove me wrong.
