Google updates Gmail for the Iphone

Connection bar added
Thu Mar 17 2011, 09:56

INTERNET MESSAGING FIRM Google has updated its Gmail service for the Iphone.

It has added a small but significant improvement in the form of a connection bar, which Google added because it is frustrating for users to not know if they are online or if their emails have been sent.

The connection bar displays at the bottom of the screen when necessary, but then disappears when not in use, similar to the bar in the Chrome web browser.

It displays when the user is offline or online, when it is checking for mail, sending mail, and finally when emails have been sent.

This update is available for Iphone users who use the Safari web browser. It is also available for the Ipod Touch. However, only devices with IOS 4.0 or above will see the changes.

If users meet the requirements and still don't see the connection bar feature, Google recommends clearing the cache and refreshing the webpage. µ
