ACER SUBSIDARY Gateway has announced its refreshed line of servers, which all feature the latest AMD Opteron 6100 series processor.
Gateway's refreshed line comes one year after it released a range of servers based on the AMD Opteron 6000 series processor. The new servers come in tower, rack and multi-node forms and all of them feature AMD's latest Opteron 6100 chips that are available in both 8-core and 12-core versions.
The GT115 F1 is the tower server with a single socket and it's aimed at small businesses looking to grow. The GR858 F1 is the rack server with a quad socket aimed at medium-sized to enterprise scale businesses. The Gemini rack server GW175h and GW200h F1 models are the multi-node servers in 2U rack cases with up to four hot-pluggable nodes. Gateway says that the Gemini servers are well suited to high-performance computing, such as medical imaging, academic computation simulations, and large ISPs.
Gateway claims that its range of servers will be "well suited to web server, virtualisation and cloud computing workloads." They are currently one of the major providers for severs at the London Olympics data centre. Gateway has not replied to The INQUIRER by press time regarding when this new range of servers will be available. µ

Hi there!
An URL would have been helpful. You write stuff, but have you tried google up the stuff you write about?
Interesting facts:
1. the servers are only visible on the USA acer website under servers.
url: http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/group/servers
2. the servers are REBRANDED supermicro servers, not original makes.

Are these price competitive with Dell's PowerEdge 415 server? That model lists for $839 on dell.com (2 socket server)
What does Gateway's equivalent product cost?
Nice to see AMD continue their growth as they clearly offer the best value in CPUs.
