Apple delays Ipad 2 launch in Japan

Its hype can't compete with earthquakes, tsunamis and nuclear plant meltdowns

THE FLOGGER OF SHINY TOYS Apple has delayed the release of its Ipad 2 in Japan in the wake of the country's multiple recent disasters.

Despite already selling over a million of its over-priced Ipad 2 tablets over the weekend, the cappuccino firm has decided not to stick with its projected Japanese launch date on 25 March.

Apple hasn't announced a new launch date in Japan for the Ipad 2 but will probably wait until a semblance of normality returns to the island nation that has been beset by a terrible tragedy.

Unlike China, which allowed the Ipad over its borders only in September 2010, the Japanese have been buying Ithings like hotcakes, making it a very lucrative market for the seller of cool cachet. When the fruit themed company released the first Ipad it quickly sold $4 billion worth of them that accounted for 6.1 per cent of its total revenue that year. That's a chunk of revenue that Apple is intending to extract yet again from its legions of loyal fanbois who have more money than sense.

"We are delaying the launch of the iPad 2 in Japan while the country and our team focuses on recovering from the recent disaster," said Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris.

"Our hearts go out to the people of Japan, including our employees and their families who have been impacted by this terrible tragedy," she continued.

Apple said that all of its Japanese workers have been tracked and are safe.

The cappuccino company has already drawn conflicting analyst research reports regarding sales breakdowns for its Ipad 2. Some analysts are declaring that buyers are new customers and not returning fanbois. But Global Equities Research analysts have reckoned that 60 per cent of Ipad 2 buyers already own the first Ipad. Which makes them two time losers, we think. µ

unbelievable

I don't have a problem with the content of the artice per se, but the sub headline "Its hype can't compete with earthquakes, tsunamis and nuclear plant meltdowns" just makes light of a serious situation whilst also pandering to the anti-Apple crowd you crave to please.

It makes me realise what a bunch of pricks every single contributor to The Inquirer is, after reading article after article of misspelling Iphone, Ipad etc.... and "MAKER OF SHINY TOYS/FRUIT THEMED FONDLE SLAB"... get the fuck over it!

Christ, you're like a bunch of fucking schoolkids.

Using the Japanese earthquake/tsunami as a thinly veiled attempt to have another pop just exposes you as the unprofessional and unsympathetic twats you really are.

Wow... Just wow.

I can't believe that anyone in their right mind would have enough balls to post something like this right after such a terrible tragedy in Japan... First of all, you're an idiot if you cared about the release date in Japan after the tragic earthquake that has killed over 10,000 innocent people.

Second of all this is the most obvious news anyone could possibly read. How insensitive and idiotic can one be?!?!?!

I agree with both of the comments before mine. You sir, are an idiot.

@ Steve T

For once I agree with Steve T!

It'd be massively unethical to stroll into earthquake struck Tokyo and wave an overpriced tablet in front of people who've lost an awful lot

More Inq flamebate

With damaged infrastructure, petrol shortages and many dead still to be recovered you want to make light of this tragedy? The last thing the japanese need at this point is to divert resources to a CE launch so Apple are doing the right thing.

Meanwhile it occurs that anyone who can afford to drop $600 per year or more on non essentials is probably doing better than the author (do they pay him in canned food and greenshield stamps?)
