GRAPHICS HARDWARE DESIGNER Nvidia has launched the GTX550 Ti, the latest in its Fermi line of graphical processor units (GPUs) for £119.
Describing it as a GPU for gaming rigs that are for the budget conscious gamer, Nvidia claims that the GTX550 Ti is up to 50 per cent faster in DX11 tessellated games and 38 per cent faster in previous-generation DX9 and DX10 games. The Green Goblin also points out that gamers will be able to add a second GeForce GTX550 Ti for more performance.
Nvidia explains that the 38 per cent faster claim is comparing the GeForce GTX550 Ti with the Radeon HD5770 using an Intel Core 3.2GHz system with the Windows 7 64-bit OS, 6GB of DDR3 memory and Nvidia drivers release 267.59 and AMD Cat 11.2.
"The GTX 550 Ti paired with our 3D Vision technology provides gamers with an amazing low-cost platform that delivers an awesome immersive experience," said Drew Henry, general manager of the GeForce GPU business at Nvidia.
The GTX550 Ti is available from Nvidia's partners including, ASUS, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, Inno3D, KFA2, Leadtek, MSI, Palit, Point of View, PNY, Sparkle, and Zotac. µ

....as in a lot of cases the 5770 is faster or just as fast. Oh and cheaper. Oh and a 18 month old design.
Compared to a 5830 the 550 would be an even bigger embarrassment.
Wow, this is only being posted now? They've been available in Australia for over a week now, someone realy needs to get on the ball. I find myself reading less and less articles on here as I find stuff posted on other sites days before it's posted here. This is poor guys
Surely they should be comparing 5830 and not 5770 with this.
5770 is cheaper and 5830 is same price
