CHIPMAKER Intel, through Intel Mobile Communications (IMC), has announced that it has acquired most of the assets of the Egypt based private software company, Sysdsoft, and some of its staff.
The move not only involves assets but Intel also said it has hired around 100 of the company's electrical engineers and computer scientists.
Based in Cairo, Sysdsoft specialises in development of embedded wireless systems which include technologies such as WiFi, Bluetooth and Wireless USB. The company develops the software stack but also the physical layer with RF/analogue circuits for mobile systems. In this case Intel is particularly interested in the LTE technology that will expand IMC's range of communications technology.
Intel EVP Arvind Sodhani said, "The acquisition of engineering and design talent from an Egypt-based company in the field of cutting-edge wireless and communication technology is the first of its kind for Intel in the Middle East." µ
