THE WINDOWS PHONE 7 update that will deliver the awesome cut and paste function to the long suffering users of that Microsoft mobile operating system allegedly will roll out in the second half of this month.
That is according to the French Microsoft website subtly called Frogz, which must endear the company to the country's population no end. The INQUIRER wonders if Microsoft will in the future rename its UK website Limeys, and go along similarly with Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Italy, and so on.
The previously much rumoured date had been 7 March for cut and paste, but this turned out to be for the pre-update update.
Arriving last week, it bricked Samsung and LG phones and that led to the Vole halting and restarting the rollout of the pre-update.
The outsourced UK Microsoft PR hotline has not responded to The INQUIRER's enquiries yet. That hotline team might be thinking, "Je ne sais pas", because that's usually the answer from agencies that do PR for big firms. Or "Nous sommes champignons". Whatever that means. µ
Um, sorry, but being French myself I am fully aware that this joke will fly way over the head of most of my non-English speaking compatriots, especially among the less-than-30-year olds who have not been brought up on WWII films and trivia.
Besides, the moniker is slightly out of date since the Gulf War, although I suppose CheezEatingSurrndrMonkeyz was a bit too obvious.
Are you a WP 7 user or a (paid) Apple or Android troll?
Nokia will not cancel their smartphone lines..
I would not want a laggy Android non accelerated UI nor Apple's staid UI..
And I do not care so much for copy paste in a phone.
Look at the timeline.
30 August 2010 - Released To Manufacture (RTM)
21 March 2011 - Copy & Paste added, but nothing else
December 2011 - 'Mango' update to bring full multitasking
So, in the 12 months since Windows Phone 7 was released to manufacture, how many features does Microsoft add? Just one.
Users are getting angry with Microsoft and Windows Phone 7. You'll find sales will plummet, and Windows Phone 7 will get discontinued, just like what happened to Microsoft's Kin phones.
