Aloft Media sues SAP over a messaging patent

Suing everyone under the sun

ALOFT MEDIA has set its legal hounds on SAP, alleging that SAP infringed one of its patents.

The patent in question is US Patent Number 7,712,107, relating to a message integration framework for mutli-application systems. It was filed in 2006 and granted in May of last year to Fair Isaac Corporation.

It is not clear how Aloft Media came into possession of this patent, but an interesting thing to note is that Fair Isaac Corporation was a defendant in a case filed by Aloft Media against Oracle over US Patent Number 7,499,898, relating to a decision-making system.

Aloft Media filed the lawsuit yesterday at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. It claims it has been irreparably damaged as a result of SAP's alleged infringement and is seeking damages as a result. If Aloft Media wins its case SAP will also have to pay a licensing fee or pull its products based on the patent off the market.

Aloft Media has been in the headlines many times for patent lawsuits it has filed against a number of major companies, including Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, Oracle, Motorola, RIM, Sony Ericsson and Adobe. µ
