MOBILE WEB SEARCH will get snazzier today with Google's launch of Instant Previews for Android and IOS.
Instant Previews is already available for desktop and laptop computers, where a user can hover over a magnifying glass icon beside a search result to view a picture preview of the website. This is a handy way to get an idea of what a website is about if the title and description aren't very clear.
The main difference between the normal web version of Instant Previews and the mobile one is that when the magnifying glass is clicked on it brings up multiple previews in a horizontal scroll bar, which allows users to to scroll through them and pick the right result. The non-mobile version simply shows a popup box with the preview for that one particular website.
The feature is available on Android 2.2 and higher as well as IOS 4.0 and higher. It is also available in 38 languages.
Google showcases the feature in action in a video below telling us how to poach an egg. µ
