PC COMPONENTS MAKER Asus has started shipping its E35M1 motherboard series that use AMD's Fusion Zacate accelerated processing unit (APU) chips and Brazos chipset.

Making the announcement at CeBIT, the chip design firm describes the motherboards as suitable for Home Theater PC and casual gaming systems. More than one graphics card can be fitted to the board.

AMD's APUs integrate a central processing unit (CPU) and graphical processing unit (GPU) on the same chip die and the AMD Zacate APU, or E-350 as it is also known, is a 40nm scale product with a thermal design power (TDP) rating of 18W. It has two AMD Bobcat CPU cores as well as an integrated GPU core.

The E35M1 series comes in a Mini ITX model and two Micro ATX versions. Asus describes the boards as low power because they are fanless and have a thermal design power draw of 36W.

Asus said, "The efficient design of the E35M1 motherboard series along with the APU supporting DirectX11 results in 113 per cent better performance over DirectX10." µ

I'd wait

I'd wait for the real AMD Fusion mobos to show. Asus' crap is always half-backed and rushed out the door before it's ready for prime time, based on my actual experience and that of many other system builders.

Not True

That is to say that the article fails to add the rather important bit after the part number they listed.

There are 3 motherboards that go by the name of E35M1

However the "Deluxe" is the Mini ITX version.

The "M" and the "M-PRO" are mATX
