MOBILE OPERATOR T-Mobile has announced that it and its partner Orange will be stocking Apple's Ipad 2 when it comes to the UK later this month.
Apple's latest magical device was revealed by the cappuccino firm's CEO Steve Jobs yesterday as a thinner and lighter device that has a dual core processor, front and back cameras and a new version of IOS. A WiFi and 3G model will be available that has got mobile operators interested, with T-Mobile and Orange saying they will both stock the 3G enabled Ipad 2 when it arrives in the UK.
T-Mobile sent out a message through its official Twitter account saying, "Both ourselves and Orange will be stocking the Ipad 2 when it becomes available in the UK".
Jobs announced that the UK will be receiving the Ipad 2 two weeks after the device makes its US debut, claiming prices will remain exactly the same as the first generation model. It is likely that mobile operators will heavily discount first generation Ipads to clear their stock.
At present only T-Mobile and Orange have confirmed that they will be flogging the Ipad 2. Given that the Ipad 2 is likely to be a sales success, it's telling that firms such as Vodafone and O2 have not announced that they will be offering the best shiny new gadget since Apple's last one.
Then again, unlike a year ago, the Ipad 2 won't be the only tablet on the market for mobile operators to offer their customers. µ

Dear INQ, I do so enjoy reading your articles but please sort out your RSS links on smartphones! With this new mippin link I have to click through 4 (or more) page reloads to access your articles which on my meager Iphone 3gS on Edge takings forever. Please help!!
Shame about lack of 'retina' display on Ipad2, otherwise pretty much as expected. After boasting about the 9x graphics I thought they were gonna slip it in there - that really would have blown the competition...
Thanks Lawrence,
nice to see that you re sticking to the facts rather than going down the I haven't got a clue but i think it's cool to bash Apple road, Nick Farrell always goes down.
For info, O2 is pretty p.off they didn't get the iPad and now iPad2 while they had the iPhone exclusivity.
The other tablets are just all they can offer, and they re pushing them hard (in the business world at least) but from what my o2 account manager is telling me, so far noone wants them..
