ONE OF THE dynamic duo of hackers who broke into AT&T's website to snatch personal data about thousands of Ipad users has been bailed out.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Andrew Auernheimer stumped up $50,000 bond and told the court that he will be working for a mate's outfit as a computer consultant while out on bail.
While on bail he can't leave New Jersey or New York, which must make prison seem like a very nice alternative after all.
Apparently he is not allowed to use Internet enabled mobile phones and can only hack into AT&T servers if it is part of his job.
Auernheimer, who is known to the world as Weev, and his chum Daniel Spitler were charged with fraud and conspiracy last month in connection with the June 2010 incident.
Their hacking group downloaded data on about 120,000 Ipad users and handed it over to a reporter on the very safe grounds that an Apple user's Coldplay collection and mind numbingly dull emails are not the most interesting things in the world to hack.
The flaw allowed them to obtain both the email addresses and ICC-ID numbers belonging to the Ipad users.
The pair claimed they told AT&T about the hack but in chat logs they bragged that they had not. µ
