OPEN SOURCE software developer Mozilla has announced that you can now download its final Firefox 4 Beta web browser.
Mozzarella claims that Fireferret 4 will deliver improved browsing performance along with better responsiveness when watching videos.
With the impressive number of 7,000 bugs fixed, earlier version of the beta had been available for testing previously but now the supposedly final beta version is out.
Mozilla said, "We are working closely with the community of add-on developers to ensure their Firefox Add-ons are ready to customize the features, look and functionality of Firefox 4 Beta." Mozilla also publicly thanks its legions of followers that do its work for it as beta testers.
The beta provides new tab locations, the opportunity to have permanent tabs, a changed add-on management function and a single menu bar location. File loading has also been worked on to improve the overall speed of the web browser. With graphics Mozilla lays claim to a three-times performance improvement over past versions. µ
Nice
I too was disappointed to see that disappear... as, I frequently look at it to be sure the address of a link i'm hovering is indeed sending me where i'd like to go. However, links, and loading info still displays in a status bar like way.. it just auto-hides and pops out... if you still want an artificial status bar like area there, to artificially fulfill the void you feel is missing... you can enable the "Add-on" bar... which looks basically like the status bar did in previous firefox versions... minus the aforementioned links and loaind info, which auto-hides above it... also, you can easily click the 'X' in the bottom left of the AddOn bar, and it'll go away again... however, after going without it, i'm getting used to it being gone... kinda like i'm getting used to the tabs on top... which, if you uncheck your File toolbar, will create a very minimal top bar, and there's still an orange Firefox button in the top left with a drop down menu of all options... don't worry, if you liked Firefox before you're gonna like 4... and if you're still running 3.6 and not 4 beta... do yourself a favor... install the beta...
I never install betas. but I am led to believe the status bar has gone in V4.
Sad, It is a useful thing in a useful place for lots of useful/interesting info.
No one asked me if I wanted it removed permanently :(
canweshipyet says they haven't killed all of the blocking bugs yet. Is Firebug even working with 4.0?
I am a big fan of Firefox, have used it for years. I don't really see always see a point in new. They always say faster and maybe it's me but does seem so. I just hope they don't mess up a good thing.
Great news for Firefox fans. You only have 20 odd RC's to go through now LMAO
