IN TOKYO TODAY Fujitsu unveiled its latest tablet, the Stylistic Q550, which will be launched at CeBIT next week and available in April in the UK.

The Stylistic Q550 is a Windows 7 tablet PC with a 10.1-inch LED backlit touchscreen with 1280x800 resolution. It claims to meet demanding business and security needs with features like fingerprint and smartcard readers and a 32GB or 64GB solid state disk drive with full disk encryption.

Anti-theft protection and a Trusted Platform Module are additional security features that Fujitsu claims "help ensure data protection if the device were lost or stolen".

The usual line-up of WiFi, Bluetooth, front and rear webcams, USB 2.0, HDMI, SD card reader are all included with the option for adding 3G and GPS. The tablet will have an Intel Oak Trail Atom processor.

The Stylistic Q550 tablet comes with a stylus pen as an alternative input method. Apparently the tablet knows when you're using the pen so it disables normal touch input from your fingers allowing you to rest your spare hand on the screen without causing interference.

Up to 8 hours of claimed battery life will keep you going all day, but if you're in need of extra power once the battery dies you can swap the battery for a second fully charged one. µ
