Sony Vaio S Series in pictures

In all its non-striking glory
Tue Feb 22 2011, 17:31

JAPANESE PC MAKER Sony's Vaio S Series laptop was showcased today in London. The notebook has a 13-inch screen and a matte black aluminium finish, and it will be available towards the end of March.

1-main

The Vaio S Series isn't the most striking laptop in the looks department but the design is neat and tidy.

2-keyboard

A standard looking setup but with the addition of a fingerprint scanner below the touchpad.

3-usb

A blue USB 3.0 port sits alongside a textbook array of ports.

4-shut

The 224x331mm casing makes for a petite sized notebook.

5-keyboard-2

We were told to ignore the stickers but do note the 'Web' button at the top left that gets you on the net in around 15 seconds without the need to boot Windows. This can only be used when the laptop is off. µ

I agree with Franklin,

how much jail time will i (and i guess my family too) face if i decide to uninstall windows? or within the EULA do i have to agree to a rootkit installed in my wireless driver to 'ensure corporate satisfaction' with my actions?

No more Sony for me, especially after removing other OS from MY PS3 (I fail to see how they can still remove said OS option, i did buy the blooming thing to act as a test bed for linux, as well as playing some of the crap-tastic games they peddle)

Bravo Sony, by the way i'm telling everyone i come across about Sony's hatred for customers.. i have a long memory and people ask me for advice about what to buy, Sony comes under the 'Might look nice, but don't bother with rubbish'

No Sony. No way.

Under no circumstances will I ever purchase any product from the company infamous for distributing PC viruses on consumer audio CDs, for bait & switch advertising, and for violating the laws of many nations by deliberately and unlawfully accessing protected computers with the intent of changing data maliciously.

Sony is a disease and must be cured. The Sony boycott is forever.

That said, they can bloody well ban every damn device on the planet from PSN, and good on them. It's their network. And they can put it in an anatomically unlikely place, as well.

Better read the user agreement first

After seeing what is happening to some people who bought PS3's, should probably leaf through the fine print to see what exactly you are "allowed" to install on this laptop without getting sued by Sony.

Perhaps installing Ubuntu Linux "could" result in jail time? Just because you buy a Sony product does not necessarily mean it is "yours".

Looks decent

Overall this notebook looks decent. I'd definitely consider it. I also support Sony's banning of hackers.

Missing keys!

Sony used to have good keyboard, but now they have imitated apple and made the Home, End, PgUp and PgDn keys an Fn function of the direction keys. For people that really use their keys (like wordprocessing, spreadsheets and so), this is a showstopper. The sad part is that they actually have space over the lateral direction keys for Home and End. Nobody uses the keyboard anymore?

Have I missed something?

No more Sony Products.

After seeing how hostile Sony is to people who do business with Sony. I have to say. I don't care about any Sony products. I will never nor will I encourage anyone to purchase Sony products ever ever again.
