French take more potshots at Google over search shenanigans

Vertical search engines have to use Google technology
Tue Feb 22 2011, 12:12

ONLINE ADVERT BROKER Google is facing more continental confabulations as a French legal website has announced it has more complaints to file with the European Commission (EC), which is already investigating the search engine giant.

Perhaps annoyed at the popularity of the search terms 'surrender monkey' and 'cheese eaters', French legal search engine Ejustice.fr told Reuters today that Google is continuing to thwart its rivals.

According to Reuters, Ejustice.fr is one of three online search engines that have accused Google of abusing its position by demoting rival websites in search results in preference to its own.

The French legal website is owned by 1plusV, which also created the music search engine E-Musicpro.com and culture search engine Eguides.fr.

It had already filed one follow-up complaint with the EC antitrust regulators since the initial allegations were made against Google early last year. That follow-up complaint alleged that from 2006 to 2010 Google forced vertical search engines to use its technology. µ
