TYPE, TRACE, SPEAK or hand write messages on your smartphone or tablet with an Android app that is now available.

At Mobile World Congress, the app's developer Nuance announced the app, called Flex T9, which combines four ways for an Android user to communicate, whether they are sending email or writing a Facebook status.

The app has Dragon Dictation, which allows users to turn talk into text. It can also do "T9 Trace", which is similar to another popular app, Swype. This allows you to write a message by gliding your finger from one letter to another, without taking it off the screen.

If you really hate using a keyboard then Flex T9 Write allows you to hand write your messages with your finger. And if you want to get back to basics, it also allows you to tap with its XT9 predictive text. The input messages can all be toggled through a simple tap using one keyboard.

Available in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish, you can grab it for a few pounds in the Android market, running on version 2.1 or higher.

It looks like quite a good deal to get this functionality all in one app, and don’t forget - it'll be Android-only, as Apple doesn’t fancy you tampering with its virtual keyboard. µ
