Yahoo's Boss version two will offer cloud searching

But its arrival is up in the air

SEARCHING CLOUDS will be a feature of Yahoo's second version of its Boss paid-for search service, with the existing service to be shut down during the Summer.

Yahoo has a 1 March target date for technical documentation publication and plans to launch the Boss version two service at some point later this year, probably in the Summer one would imagine. It's updated paid-for service will offer a more limited web results service with a lower price than Boss version one.

The new pricing will be as follows: 10 cents for news only results, 30 cents for images only, 40 cents for limited web results and 80 cents for the full web search. To pay for this new version of Boss, also known as Boss V2, Yahoo will helpfully provide a self-serve sign up mechanism through the Yahoo! Developer Network.

This way developers can enter payment information and request advertising through the combined Yahoo and Microsoft marketplace. Developers will be billed monthly depending upon query volume.

Yahoo Boss team member Rahul Hampole said in a blog post, "Search advertising will be served ads in their BOSS API calls. Through the Yahoo! and Microsoft Search Alliance, we believe we have a robust marketplace and search advertising platform that will meet customers' needs." µ
