KOREAN HARDWARE MAKER Samsung has had details of its not so secret Galaxy S2 smartphone and Galaxy Tab 2 tablet leaked online.
Samsung's tablet and smartphone roadmap leak came courtesy of a PR gaffe that saw information of its upcoming models hung out for all to see online. Someone at Samsung hosted the details of the Galaxy S2 smartphone and Galaxy Tab 2 on Samsung's Hub website in preparation for a presentation at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC).
Samsung has already taken the link down and has probably dealt with the PR people responsible. However the company didn't move quickly enough, as assorted hacks and a few blogs picked up on the leak.
AndroidOS is hosting screenshots of the presentation for the hardware, which is due to take place at MWC in Barcelona on February 13 at 7.30pm.
We'd say that if you want more information on the Galaxy S2 smartphone and Galaxy Tab 2 tablet you'll have to fly to Spain for the presentation, but there are no more details on the products. For once Samsung hasn't exactly shrouded its kit in a veil of secrecy before a big trade show.
Back in December Korean business daily Chosun reported that the Galaxy S2 will run Android 2.3 and will feature a dual-core CPU and a gyroscope.
And last week Oled-display put up a leaked video of the Galaxy Tab 2 tablet. According to the video, Samsung's updated tablet will have Android OS 2.3, Gingerbread, with an upgrade to Android 3.0, Honeycomb, an Nvidia Tegra 2 CPU and GPU combo and a 7-inch Super-Amoled display.
Oled-display reckons that Samsung doesn't have the capacity to mass produce 7-inch Super-Amoled displays yet so it could be a fake video. Speculation aside, we will know for sure when Samsung hosts its presentation at MCW in a few weeks. µ

the iPad 2 is much better vapourware than the Galaxy Tab 2. Not that you'll admit it. And you'll insist on calling it "IPad", I expect. :-)
I saw Galaxy Tab 1 in Tesco reduced to £360 till February 8th, I don't see what's so great about it after all, the heavy metal stand it's bolted into is much too bulky to be practical!
I may buy one though, just to prove it! ;-)
