THE BRITISH are considering a national holiday after they actually won an international competition.
Apparently a British buyer bought Apple's 10 billionth app download, a copy of the Paper Glider app that was also created by Brits.
Gail Davis of Orpington in Kent downloaded the Paper Glider app from Cirencester-based Iphone app developer Neon Play. As the winner of Apple's App Store 'Countdown to 10 Billion Apps', Davis will receive a $10,000 Itunes gift card.
Oli Christie, CEO of Neon Play said that it was a great piece of news for the whole Neon Play team. Paper Glider is currently the top app in the UK.
It is worth pointing out that when Apple opened its App Store in July 2008, Steve Jobs had initially said he didn't want nasty smelly outsiders to write code for his machines. He only changed his mind after he was assured that he would have total autocratic control over everything that was sold at the App Store.
The App store took off and created Jobs' Mob's infamous walled garden of delights where there is no porn, no Flash and nothing that a born again Christian from the Midwest might find offensive. A bit like a Western Saudi Arabia crossed with Disneyland.
The idea has been much copied and is being seen as crucial to the success of any smartphone.
Still the British are so bad on the international competition stage it is nice that they have won something that is not like the title of most teenage pregnancies or the most overweight people in Europe. µ
Where are the fanbois with their "oh this is such a bias report" etc etc..
Usually they only have to look at the reporters name before flaming away.
But hes right it is nice that we finally win something.
Did anyone in China win anything? - you know the place where they make all of Apples hardware! - or did they use up all their winnings in saftey nets, for under the stairs of their main factories to stop the Chinesse workers from commiting suicide?
She might have one, but she almost missed out.

I'd be trying to offload it on Ebay for a grand if I could.
And nothing of value was won. iTunes gift card? What do you do with $10k on iTunes? Buy music? lol
