HARDWARE MAKER Samsung has released a couple of wireless printers for personal, home office and small business users with a different flavour of toner that it hopes will be the next big thing.
The Samsung CLP-325W and multifunction CLX-3185FW printers use Samsung's new polymerized chemical toner which apparently has nothing to do with hypnotising parrots.
Polymerized chemical toner creates high-resolution, high-gloss prints that last longer thanks to the toner's fusing ability. By having stronger fusing, the prints are preserved with less image destruction.
Apparently the toner also enables the printers to consume less energy. They create a thin and uniform toner layer, which lets the printers use a lower fusing temperature and waste less toner.
Samsung also claims that the toner uses up to 35 per cent less electricity to manufacture compared to manufacturing conventional toner, which results in a significant reduction in carbon dioxide.
The CLP-325W and CLX-3185FW printers will be in the shops from mid-January for $199.99 and $399.99, respectively. µ
Do they use some form of
transmogrification technology to change
shape to fit other printers?
No, I suspect someone installs the toner cartridges with a hammer ;)
Ed: Nicely done with polymerized = hypnotising parrots; you, sir, are a genius!
So what you're saying, Glococo, is that even though the Ricoh and HP printers we use at my work have different toner cartridges for different models, and no two are the same, they're interchangeable?
Wow, that's amazing! How does it work?

This is GOOD news, fool! Let's hope that the cheaper manufacturing costs reflect in the price consumers have to pay.
Every printer manufacture's Toner or Ink is proprietary you damn moron! That is why they are still in business, you idiot! Go back to your dot matrix printer and 8086 PC and keep your mouth shut!
The only standards that need to be adhered to are connections and paper sizes. Go back to your job as a greeter at Wal Mart, as that is the only thing u are qualified to comment on! I suppose you think you know everything about medical supplies too.
Thats the bottom line. OUR PRINTERS must use STANDARD consumables. I will not slave me or our company to propietary solutions in a new open source world coming.
SAY NO TO SAMSUNG PRINTER.
SAMSUNG = LEXMARK = DELLPRINTERS = CANON
These companies (and Intel, Apple, and many others) are the MASTERS of the "Planned obsolescence"

The real question is, how much is the toner cost? The printer price sounds normal, like w/ most companies. But they make their money from toner cost so we will need to know how much that would be.
