CHIP DESIGNER Nvidia has announced that is selling the GeForce GTX570 Direct X11 GPU with alarming 'eye popping' capabilities.
The GTX570 GPU is pitched at gamers, of course, and the Green Goblin claims that it gives users new levels of price for performance, which is some great marketing speak. It has quiet acoustics, meaning that you can hear your brapps, bangs and assassinations over its fan noise.
It's also fast, predictably, and Nvidia said that compared against its closest competitive product it is up to 128 per cent faster at running DirectX 11 games.
"With all of this performance under the hood, it is no wonder why GeForce GPUs remain as the world's number one brand for consumer GPUs", said the Nvidia press release in a totally unnecessary display of braggadocio.
The GPU also supports Nvidia's 3D Vision and Surround technologies, which means that you can watch your 3D movies with 'eye popping quality' across as many as three screens.
Nvidia also announced that its multi GPU SLI technology, which turns up on the GeForce GTX580 GPU and GTX570, has been licensed for use on Intel P67 Express chipset-based motherboards using Sandy Bridge processors. These include the Core i7, Core i5, Core i3, Core 2 Quad and Core 2 Duo processors.
This will change the way that people game, as long as they pair up an Intel chipset with one or two of the Green Goblin's GPUs, said Nvidia before hurling us in the direction of a self congratulatory quote from Intel marketing.
"The combined processing prowess of Sandy Bridge and NVIDIA SLI technology will provide consumers with the building blocks for the ultimate gaming PC platform," said Joel Christensen, general manager of the Intel client board division.
"Both NVIDIA and Intel continue to share a combined passion for furthering the PC as the definitive platform for gaming, and this combination will surely be attractive to anyone building or purchasing a brand new PC in 2011."
Nvidia has licensed its multi-GPU SLI technology for use with chipsets from the aforementioned Chipzilla as well as by Asus, Gigabyte, MSI and EVGA. µ
